Class Levels
Our goal is to build strong community. For this reason, we will not hold level auditions. Dancers will be free to attend any class with any instructor, at any level, throughout the weekend.
To ensure dancers of all skill levels are accommodated, instructors will plan leveled classes for their Saturday morning lessons. Each set of instructors will rotate, so everyone has the opportunity to take classes with all instructors at all 3 levels throughout the weekend.
The different levels are described below:
Level 1
Level 1 dancers are newer, but not brand new. They should already be familiar with 6-count and 8-count basics, and may also have some experience with Charleston basics. At this level, dancers are building confidence with Swing Outs, Circles, and foundational Charleston moves.
Level 2
Level 2 dancers are comfortable with the basics and put moves together with confidence on the social dance floor. At this level, they’ll refine core skills, deepen their understanding of lead and follow connection, and build musicality. They’ll learn new vocabulary to strengthen their fundamentals and help them feel more at home dancing Lindy Hop on the social floor.
Level 3
Level 3 dancers have typically been dancing Lindy Hop for several years, taking many classes and often traveling to workshops or camps. They thrive on being challenged, focusing on refining the quality of their movement, enhancing their musicality, and deepening their lead and follow connection at a highly polished level. Dancers at this level sometimes compete in competitions, and even occasionally teach.
